Words lose value unless you recharge them with meaning from time to time. That was what I contemplated while listening to KNIX on the way to work this morning. Arizona has long incubated an independent spirit as well as a unique brand of desert hospitality seeped in the cowboy ethos. In our unforgiving Sonoran landscape, self-reliance and innovation are survival characteristics that when applied to business, become force multipliers for our customers.
In this sense, being an independent insurance agency has as much to do with a mindset as it does with market access. Our agency’s independent spirit is infused by the heritage of the Southwest in the following five ways:
Creative Problem-Solving
As an independent agency, we have the freedom to think outside the box and come up with unique solutions that meet our clients’ needs. We are not crippled by corporate bureaucracy and outdated protocols. My brothers and I embrace this freedom to find innovative ways to serve our clients better than the competition.
Client-Centric Approach
Being independent allows us to focus on our client’s best interests without being tied to specific insurance carriers. This mindset shift sets us apart in our industry by demonstrating our commitment to finding the best solution for our client’s unique situation. Each company has its own challenges which require their own tailored solutions.
My client advocacy draws on a playbook that extends nearly 20 years and draws on my tenure as a senior commercial underwriter. If you find yourself in a pickle, it is likely I’ve seen it before and can recommend multiple avenues of resolution you may not have thought of. Then I can explain it to decision-makers at the carrier level in a way they understand and can approve.
Doc Holliday said it best when he told the Earp brothers, “I’m your huckleberry.” Yes, what he said.
Entrepreneurial Spirit
Independence fosters our entrepreneurial spirit at Wilson Insurance. We take advantage of this mindset by being proactive, taking calculated risks, and constantly seeking growth opportunities for our business. This dovetails into the cowboy ethos that Arizona is renowned for.
Adaptability
Geronimo was an Apache military leader and medicine man. He was a master of guerrilla warfare tactics. His deep knowledge of the land and resources enabled his band to evade and outmaneuver much larger and better-equipped enemy forces. His strategic alliances bolstered his forces and increased his chances of success. By leveraging his alliances, he demonstrated his adaptability in building coalitions for mutual benefit.
We bake Geronimo’s warrior ethos into how we address the constantly evolving insurance industry. Staying independent provides us the flexibility to adapt quickly to market changes and trends. While other agencies cash out to private equity and mammoth insurance conglomerates, we celebrate our independent model.
Personalized Service
Independent agencies have the advantage of providing personalized service that caters to the individual needs of each client. We take the time to care. We infuse our brand of desert hospitality to our policyholders by building strong relationships. We focus on convenience and service. We offer tailored solutions that show we truly care about their financial well-being.
While you may be working with another independent agency, it begs the question if they have a Saguaro State of Mind. When problems arise and your rates increase, if you don’t feel like your current agent’s service is a tall glass of water on a hot summer day consider giving Wilson Insurance a try.
